Selecting Your Wedding Site

If you are all ready a member of a church or synagogue, clear your plans with your clergyman as soon as possible.  Many places of worship limit the number of weddings they can handle in a weekend, some also have restrictions and customs that must be respected and to which you're expected to adhere.

When choosing colors for your attendants and for flowers and other church decorations, keep in mind the predominant colors of the church.  You may choose to take your color cue from those colors or to use them as a coordinating color backdrop to your color choices.

If you're planning an outdoor ceremony, an alternate site is a must.  You have weather conditions to consider plus the possible "participation" of birds, animals and bugs.

Marrying at home gives you many possibilities except for space.  You will need to limit your guest list.  Consider a small home wedding followed by a large reception at a club or hotel.  Many clubs and hotels also provide space for the ceremony as well as the reception.  In fact, with the popularity of destination weddings, many hotels provide a total package with accommodations, ceremony site, reception hall and the day-after breakfast.  Even if you're not flying to an exotic locale for your ceremony, consider packages offered by the better hotels in your area.

Brainstorming

Hello ladies; here are a few ideas for your wedding that i thought i would just throw out there:

  • the hot colors for this summer, so far, have been:  chocolate brown (still) and orange with a bronze undertone, red, cream, black and white, yellow and silver.
  • wedding logos:  Graphic elements, such as, a flower, a bird, a location, etc.
  • donations to charity instead of favors
  • long tables and square tables instead of rounds at the reception.
  • Have the venue pour your own wine collection (there will be a corkage fee) or have them make a pairing for you.  Also you can have a signature drink, for example have a 6 flavor bellini bar with fruit purees and fresh herbs.
  • late night snacks for you and your guests for a "pick-me-up":  Gourmet popcorn, after dinner cheese boards, mini burgers, cheesecake lollipops, mini ice cream sandwhiches, mini root beer floats and warm chocolate chip cookies with milk shots.
  • disposable video cameras:  see what was really going on at your reception.

Another Wedding Brawl

Hello ladies, here is another story of a wedding reception gone bad.

A dispute over a missing camera at a wedding reception escalated into a 100-person brawl that left two people with stab wounds, minor cuts and bruises and six people arrested.

"It just kept going on and on" said a police sergent, who was about 30 cops to respond to the brawl at a Ramada Inn, which then spilled into the parking lot.  A woman was stabbed in a leg and the DJ hired for the wedding reception was stabbed in the neck.  It took two hours for police to restore order.

If I Had It To Do All Over Again, I Would Marry You Again And Again And...

Five Weddings-Weddings Hello ladies, Mrs. C. here, your right in the middle of all of the craziness that is wedding planning and you are ready to tear your hair out.  Well imagine planning five weddings.  That's right five weddings!  And they have had the weddings all in nine months!  Here is the story from Aisle Dash.

*******

One of the hardest parts about planning a wedding is facing the fact that someone you love will not be able to be there for your big day.  Maybe you have family or friends who live too far away, or maybe your loved ones have conflicting schedules.  One couple decided that rather than leave anyone out, they would bring the wedding to their friends and family -- even though it meant having five weddings in nine months.  More from Aisledash...

Ethnic Wedding Traditions-Jewish

In a Jewish wedding, the bride's veil is a deeply symbolic part of the ceremony.  "Bedecking" involves the groom veiling his bride, and it takes place either before the ceremony or before the couple enters the chupah.  The ritual originates from Genesis 24:65.

Ethnic Wedding Traditions-Greek Orthodox

The "Dance of Isaiah" is performed by the bride and groom by walking around a central table or altar three times, while the best man follows behind holding crowns over their heads.  The priest leads the way, holding the Book of the Gospels, from which three hymns or blessings are chanted.  The unbroken circle represents eternity and the cross at the center represents Jesus Christ.

Ethnic Wedding Traditions-Indian (Hindu)

In some southern Indian marriages, the "seven steps" are an integral part of the ceremony.  The couple walks toward the south while the groom holds the bride's little finger.  In other parts of India, the groom holds the hand of the bride and leads her around the fire seven times.  With every step, a blessing is chanted to bring prosperity and harmony to the newlyweds.

5 Ways to Include your Pet in Your Wedding

Hello Ladies; although i loved my dog sugar very much (she is no longer with us), i did not invite her to our wedding.  It would've been a disaster waiting to happen.  If your one to take on a challenge, and you love your dog, then here are 5 ways to include your pooch in on the festivities.  (I thought #5 was a little much).  Go to Petside
